District Structure
Booker Independent School District is comprised of two campuses with a combined enrollment of 335 students. Kirksey Elementary houses grades Pre-Kindergarten thru fifth grade, and Booker Junior High/High School campus houses grades six to twelve.
District Programs and Facilities
Booker ISD offers all basic courses required by TEA for graduation, and we have an extensive Career and Technology Department. We offer a variety of vocational agriculture classes and have an active FFA chapter. In addition, we offer several classes with a focus on computer operations, programming, and technology applications.
BISD participates in UIL events at every level, boasting numerous titles including a State Champion Computer Science team.
Our band program is top notch and growing steadily having four consecutive sweepstakes awards and a trip to San Antonio to participate in the State Championship Marching Contest.
Kirksey Elementary students have access to our indoor swimming pool with bi-weekly swimming instruction. Booker JH/HS campus has an exceptional weight room utilized by several sports programs, including football, baseball, softball and basketball. In addition to these sports, we offer cross country, track, tennis and golf for a well-balanced fitness program.
Teacher Demographics
Booker ISD is located in the northeast corner of the Texas Panhandle. The District employees 80 faculty and staff members and has an enrollment of approximately 335 students. With 40 teachers on staff, the student to teacher ratio is 8.375:1. This is far more favorable than the statewide average of 15.1:1.
Our teachers have an average of 13 years in education, and 95.6% of our teachers possess a bachelor’s degree or higher.
Student Statistics
Students at Booker ISD can stand proud of their academic success. Booker ISD students have a four-year graduation rate of 96.3%, compared to the statewide rate of 89.1%. Most of our students attend a college or trade-school following graduation and receive some type of post-secondary degree.
BISD far exceeds the state-wide graduation rate by 7.2% with a rate of 96.3% students receiving their diplomas on time or earlier.
